Porcelain Veneers
Get a beautiful and natural smile with porcelain veneers
Porcelain veneers are a thin and delicate coating bonded to your tooth. We only use dental veneers that are handcrafted by carefully selected dental technicians. The porcelain veneers are extremely thin and tailored for each individual. To avoid compromising quality, we do not use machine-milled laminates.
Dental laminate is a highly aesthetic, translucent glass-ceramic material that looks natural and beautiful. Dental veneers have the same natural feel and colour as your own teeth. A dental technician paints every detail on the porcelain veneer, creating a surface on the laminate that diffuses light beautifully. Made by an experienced dental technician, veneers imitate natural teeth as closely as possible.
What are dental veneers used for?
Dental veneers are typically used to repair signs of severe tooth wear, which can be caused by a number of factors. The most common uses include treating chippings, discolourations, mica stains and teeth with many plastic fillings.
Ceramic dental veneers are used to correct the appearance of teeth and treat minor misalignments such as overlapping, twisting and gaps between teeth.
When designing dental veneers, we always consider the customer’s facial features and proportions to achieve a natural result.
Before & after
The client had undergone Invisalign treatment a few years earlier and the teeth were completely straight. Before the minimal preparations, the teeth were cleaned, and whitening was used to get the best possible result. Veneers were done to total of 10 teeth.

Gentle dental treatment with porcelain veneers
Ethical and responsible aesthetics require a non- or minimally-invasive approach to dental treatment. This means that we always aim to spare healthy dental tissue.
If your teeth are crowded or misaligned, we recommend pre-straightening them before applying veneers. Think of it like straightening the bathroom walls before tiling.
Applying dental veneers often requires grinding the tooth. We always carry out this part of the procedure gently – pre-straightening allows us to reduce or avoid grinding altogether.
We have carried out approximately 3,000 Invisalign teeth straightening treatments. As a result, we are an Invisalign Diamond Apex service provider, making us among the top 1% of all Invisalign service providers worldwide. Read more about Invisalign.
Steps of the veneer treatment
Waxing – the first step towards the perfect smile
If necessary, we grind the teeth during the first treatment visit for new dental veneers. However, there is one step before this: waxing. It is the first model of your new smile and is tailor-made by a dental technician before the teeth are ground.
The wax-up serves several purposes: to model the shape of your dental veneers, to guide the dentist in the preparation process and to give shape to the temporary teeth. The waxing process takes into account your individual facial features, skeletal structures and special wishes.
The word “waxing” comes from an old technique where a dental technician used wax to build new tooth shapes on the client’s dental impressions. Today, the new shapes are mostly built using 3D modelling.
Preparation
eSmile’s treatment philosophy means we spare as much healthy dental tissue as possible. In some cases, we may have to grind the tooth before applying dental veneers to the tooth’s surface. For instance, sharp enamel edges can break the dental veneer, similar to a glass plate with a small stone underneath.
Before applying the porcelain veneers, we have to grind the tooth to get rid of rough enamel edges and remove old fillings. Pre-straightening can reduce the need of grinding or avoid it altogether.
Temporary veneers
During the preparation visit, we create temporary teeth that serve as sketches of your dental veneers. However, the temporary material is plastic, which is a much weaker and matte-like material than the final dental veneers. The temporary material is designed to come off easily, allowing for a quicker and more comfortable visit without disturbing healthy tissue during the cementation process. We make necessary adjustments to the final veneers based on the temporary teeth’s shape,
Applying the porcelain veneer
We attach the final porcelain veneers to the tooth’s surface during the cementing visit using a strong bonding agent called dental cement. Thanks to cementing, the veneers can last for decades. The dentist shows you what the veneers look like in your mouth before cementing.
The end result is not at its best immediately after cementing due to the effects of anaesthesia and irritation to the gums. We often schedule a control visit to remove excess dental cement. The gums heal quickly after the veneers have been applied, but it might take up to several months for the veneers to settle into their final position. This is why the best final photos are taken about six months after applying the veneers.
High-end aesthetics uses veneers to mimic natural teeth as much as possible. They are translucent and have a characterised surface that diffuses light beautifully. Each detail is well thought-out and individually handmade.

A natural end result with porcelain veneers
At eSmile, we value top aesthetics and demand excellence from our partners. We want to offer our customers the handprint of world-class professionals, which is why we have partnered with two experts in aesthetic dentistry: Edson da Silva’s PremiumLab in Lisbon, Portugal, and dental technician Aki Lindén from Helsinki.
We have also cooperated with several dental laboratories in California. Therefore, we can help if you are looking for a more American style.
“Instead of trying to find an easy way, we are looking for the best end results”, says dentist Hannu Vesanen, our expert in aesthetics.
Who should use dental veneers?
Many might think of white “Hollywood smiles” when they hear about dental veneers. Yet, veneers are an effective and safe solution for nearly all adults.
However, your teeth and gums must be healthy before the actual veneer treatment can begin. This may involve treating gingivitis, removing tartar or taking care of caries before the treatment. We often recommend a dental check-up and tartar removal before beginning the treatment for dental veneers.
Porcelain veneers can fix the appearance of teeth but also repair worn or damaged teeth and treat minor misalignments. Larger misalignments should be corrected with orthodontic treatment before applying veneers.
We often recommend teeth whitening first, as the colour of your new veneers is made to match the other teeth. This is especially true when the veneers are made only for a few teeth. These procedures are not included in the price of veneers.

The price of dental veneers may vary slightly depending on the complexity of the treatment and the amount of work involved. For example, removing old dental bondings or veneers prior to treatment may increase the price.
We also charge for any pre-straightening separately. Check our price list for more.
Dental veneers have a higher one-time expense than composite bondings. However, veneers will pay themselves back in the long run as they last notably longer than composite bonding.
